Community Mental Health Team provides a wide range of support for people seeking specialist assessment and treatment for a mental health difficulty.

Cragside ward is an inpatient dementia assessment and treatment unit and aims to provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment of the older person’s physical, psychological, behavioural, social and spiritual needs.

The Dementia Nurse Practitioner assess/support patients with dementia and their families whilst in hospital.

The service provides post-diagnostic support and treatment for patients aged 65 and over who have been diagnosed with a dementia

Access to appropriate information can enable people to develop a better understanding of their difficulties and access mental health support. 

Gateshead Older Persons Mental Health Liaison Service offers high-quality and responsive mental health assessment/care/advice to older people who are inpatients within the QE Hospital.

Sunniside ward is an acute mental health inpatient unit based the Gateshead site for patients presenting with functional mental health difficulties.

This service is to provide a supportive service to maximise independence and keep our patients are as well as they can be.
